This exciting concept design builds on the success of local theatre groups and their passion for performance art in the region. The design imagines a new home for theatre in the East Riding of Yorkshire creating a lasting legacy.

The refurbished and extended buildings will connect people through performance and storytelling, bringing theatre to a new audience. The building includes a large main theatre space with a flytower, a studio workshop, reading library and cafe space.

The design references materials and features found on the extensive range of local listed buildings and draws together Hull's maritime heritage, it's historic strong links to mainland Europe and its architecture.

Utilising Passivhaus principles the design will minimise energy use and features low embodied carbon materials. The project brief seeks to deliver an ambitious new target raising the bar for theatre buildings.
